Nanotechnology-modified products in the food sector (including a smart RFDI nanosensor) were the focus of the two-day congress held in Braga, Portugal, on 20-21 November, to discuss the science of tiny.
Organized by the European Commission, the congress dealt with the commercialization of products derived from techniques related to the science of the miniscule.
Scientists and developers revealed at the congress some of the products in development that could be important for the food sector if they are commercialized.
Several manufacturers defend the use of nanotechnology in packaging to extend the shelf life of products, or something more controversial, to improve the nutritional content and impact of foods.
