There have been rumors for weeks that Google could have closed a deal worth 2.5 billion dollars to acquire the shopping site Groupon.
Rumors about this acquisition have been in the spotlight for more than a week, specifically since November 19, when it was published that Google had made an offer of between 2 billion and 3 billion dollars.
VatorNews was the first to report that Google has already acquired Groupon, although neither company has confirmed the deal yet.
VatorNews quotes an "insider who prefers to remain anonymous" and describes a "reliable" source, who told them that Google "bought Groupon for $ 2.5 billion."
Groupon was founded in 2008. The company's revenue appears to be around $ 50 million a month, from 20 million subscribers in 29 countries in Europe, North America, Latin America and Asia.
TechRadar has contacted Google in case the company wishes to make a comment, or confirm or deny the news.
